| Abstract | The attitude of the board is apparent in their setting aside of the orderly process and rule of law, defying Judge [Sonna Anderson]'s decision and instead delivering their own iron-fisted revocation of Dr. [George Hsu]'s license all over again. Their prejudice is couched in the language of their decision: "The board cannot monitor Dr. Hsu's practice for the remainder of his career" - as if Hsu is in any way a slouch or a bane to his patients, when not one has complained. A sparsely populated state like North Dakota needs top- flight doctors in its rural outreaches, and Dr. Hsu is one of the finest this area has had. With the history in our state of xenophobia, we should be careful that our fear of the foreigner isn't based on envy of excellence in expertise or a view superior to a tradition we might well have cherished beyond the time of its worth. Dr. Hsu's exoneration was well-deserved |
