SCOTLAND came to Utah at the start of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival as actors Peter Mullan and Billy Boyd and director Gaby Dellal celebrated the world premiere of Dellal's feature debut, On a Clear Day. Dellal and Mullan yesterday declared themselves overjoyed by the reception. Mullan thrilled the capacity crowd by taking the stage in Highland dress - although he almost didn't make it to Utah, after a disrupted journey saw him stranded in San Francisco. One critic on the Sundance website said: "Mullan and [Brenda Blethyn] turn in vibrant performances, f lanked by an eccentric slate of British character actors who portray the mates bracing [Frank] in his folly. Mullan is especially complex as Frank comes face to face with the physical challenge at hand while, more importantly, asking the ultimate question: Is he ready to confront the demons within?"
