Summary: | The Tri-County Sectional was a sight to see. From the fans with their faces painted and wearing wild wigs to the shouts of "BOOM" every time a Reitz or Mater Dei bowler struck, to the overall enthusiasm, to the shear number of people watching. It was more like a basketball sectional then what you might think a bowling sectional would be. Dan Boyle of Reitz stated, "My grandpa started me bowling when I was 8 years old. I have been bowling ever since. This is my fourth year bowling for Reitz. We had a pretty good season, finishing fifth, but we were the only team to beat Harrison. Our team has a lot of enthusiasm. Anytime one of our bowlers gets a strike, the other four yell `boom' in unison." In the boys finals, third-seeded Mater Dei took on Reitz, the No. 2 seed. Reitz won the two-game Baker match, 387-365. In the finals, Reitz edged top-seeded Central, 379-370. In the girls final, No. 1 seed Central beat No. 2 seed Memorial 389-326. All five teams advance to the regional, held in Terre Haute. |
