Summary: | TOOL manufacturer Holo Krome is to close its Dundee operations, axing 60 of its 66-strong workforce. American-based Holo Krome, which makes socket screws and distributes Allen keys at its Dundee factory, plans to move its manufacturing operations to its sister plant in Connecticut. AEEU Amicus Scottish regional secretary Danny Carrigan said the decision was bad news for Scotland and Dundee. "Three years ago Holo Krome employed 250 people. The UK's manufacturing sector can't compete with its overseas competitors particularly in Eastern Europe and the Far East," he said. |
