In the history of the CMA awards no artist has ever come back after 10 years to score a repeat victory in the major award categories of entertainer, male vocalist, female vocalist, vocal group or vocal duo of the year. Nominated with Strait, [Vince] Gill, Garth Brooks and last year's winner, Alan Jackson, the duo was the only entry in the field that had not won the prize before, though they did win the Academy of Country Music's entertainer of the year honor earlier this year. |
