Slim and shy, [Roberto Tabaka] knows the pope was a fellow Pole. But Roberto, who moved from Poland at age 5, cares more about him because of his energetic courting of youth to the church. "For young people, he's made us feel much more Christian and brought more of us into the church," said Roberto, who came to the wake with his mother and aunt, both Polish emigrees. [Gertrude Campini] also liked John XXIII, who was known as a reformer. "John XXIII did a lot of good things, but this pope's style was something else. He had such charisma," Campini said.
