Summary: | America has suffered the worst act of terrorism in its history. There have been many unselfish heroes, many known and unknown. Rightfully, praise has been heaped upon and recognition given to New York's Bravest, the fire department, and New York's Finest, the police department. After the first plane hit the World Trade Center, Sheriff Cal Mathis immediately mobilized the sheriff's office, deploying uniform personnel to the scene. Deputy sheriffs assisted the NYPD and FDNY in the first rescue attempts of victims from the collapsed towers. Sheriffs' office personnel led victims to safety after the collapse of the towers and were part of a triage unit, since several deputies are certified emergency medical technicians. I know about the unselfish acts of the deputy sheriffs because my aunt is a chief deputy sheriff. My family is extremely proud of all the good work performed by these individuals and just wanted to share the information with the rest of the American people. Bravos and prayers to the uniform personnel of the New York City Sheriffs' Office. |
