| Abstract | At Windermere Basin, 24 hectares of land has recently been created as a result of the dredging and filling process that began in the late 1980s. This new land could be a great opportunity for new public space. The Beach Strip is another area where a great deal can be done to make the harbour more people-friendly. The Beach Strip forms the gateway to the harbour and holds a number of possibilities such as the rejuvenation of the shipping canal lighthouse and the beautification of the canal entrance in general. One of the most popular destinations for people looking to gain access to the waterfront in the east end is Confederation Park. The Hamilton Region Conservation Authority has recently completed a study of the area which proposes a number of improvements for the park and these need to be discussed. |
