Summary: | I visited Liverpool because I'm a Beatles fan. I ran nightclubs and restaurants in St Petersburg and, at the end of the 80s when I first came to Liverpool, I met Allan Williams, the club owner who worked with the Beatles. We agreed to put on some humanitarian concerts in Russia. I started coming to Liverpool more often to trade in Beatles memorabilia and, 12 years ago, I settled here. I fell in love with the city. When I first came, it was derelict but very bright and friendly. It reminded me of Vladivostok, where I was born. Now Liverpool is like a phoenix rising from the dust. It's growing like a baby. It's fantastic. You had English-type nightclubs in Russia - there is a club called Liverpool in St Petersburg - so why not open a Russian place in Liverpool? It's a good exchange. |
