Summary:Manufacturing plastic components used in the automotive interior shows a clear trend to a higher value surface. The new surface qualities are achieved by disguising the interior components with a decor material. This decor material can usually be a textile, a foil or a synthetic leather imitation. However, leather is not only used for high expensive car models. In the following the dependence of the decor component's aging behaviour on the special material combination, on the manufacturing process and the design or components are shown. The aging tests, which are focussed on the methods hot light fastness, solar simulation and climate fluctuation were carried out according to the standards established in the automotive industry.
