Abstract Thermoelectric measurements show that (Pb sub 0 sub . sub 7 sub 5 Cu sub 0 sub . sub 2 sub 5 )Sr sub 2 (Ca sub 0 sub . sub 5 Y sub 0 sub . sub 5 )Cu sub 2 O sub 7 sub - sub / delta /, (In sub 0 sub . sub 2 Pb sub 0 sub . sub 5 sub 5 Cu sub 0 sub . sub 2 sub 5 )Sr sub 2 - (Ca sub 0 sub . sub 5 Y sub 0 sub . sub 5 )Cu sub 2 O sub 7 sub - sub / delta /, and (Pb sub 0 sub . sub 7 sub 5 Cu sub 0 sub . sub 2 sub 5 )Sr sub 2 (Ca sub 0 sub . sub 5 Yb sub 0 sub . sub 5 )Cu sub 2 O sub 7 sub - sub / delta / (T sub / c /=40, 55, and 60 K, resp.) are located in the underdoped region, as compared to YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 sub - sub / delta /. By introducing even greater hole concentrations into the conducting CuO sub 2 plane, still higher T sub / c / may be obtained.
