Summary: | The letter started with "Dear Friend of La Leche League." This greeting works well for letters to members of the community who have been supportive of the Group as well as to mothers. Next we included a little story, "The Tale of the Starfish." As an old man walked the beach at dawn, he noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them back into the sea. Catching up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this. The answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left out in the morning sun. "But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish," countered the other. "How can your effort make any difference?" The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and as he threw it to the safety of the sea he said, "It makes a difference to this one." |
