| Abstract | Standardization of consulting processes has generated methodical elements and definitions. Simultaneously other important elements of such consulting processes have been factored out. This paper tries to outline some of the vanished qualities of consulting, being covered up by standardization: The unique relationship that develops between clients and their consultants, the shared feeling of intimacy during a satisfying consulting process. Professional consulting has to combine both qualities: The standards, criteria of quality, methodological accuracy on one hand and the very unique and personal relationship between clients and consultants on the other hand. Thus, professional consulting means constantly being aware of balancing the contradiction of dependency and autonomy during consulting. Handling this dialectic relationship in praxis and apprenticeship prerequisites the quality of the craft. Adapted from the source document |
