Abstract | From salt to wheat, from a small bolt to a huge vessel, from man to thousands of animals many types ofproducts are carried by different siye of merchant ships. Besides this, different type of naval vessels are operated for border security or oversea operations. So, merchant or naval vessels have global effects on every person living in the world. In both merchant and naval vessels, there must be a cooling system in different capacities in order to keep the foods required by the ship's crew and to cool the products transported. In this context, having an efficient and small refrigeration system is very importantfor ship owners. In this study, the relationship between the siye and performance of a marine refrigeration system is examined by using the exergy which is a thermodynamic state property, and also case studies have been carried out for different design conditions. As a result, application of the exergy density for a refrigeration system which uses three different refrigerants has been shown to be beneficial in the design phase as it examines system dimensions as well as system performance. |
