Summary:It is shown that conclusions regarding the statistical nature of multifragmentation, drawn by Botvina and Gross from experimental data, are unfounded. Imperfections of the experimental apparatus cannot restore information, once destroyed by statistical fluctuations. Attention is also called to the special treatment of neutron phase space in the Berlin MMMC, affecting the predicted relation between excitation energy and transversal kinetic energy of associated particles.
