Location and Spatia-temporal Distribution Characteristics of Geomantic Pagodas in Guangdong and Jiangxi Based on GIS

[...]southern Jiangxi is the origin of geomantic Xingshi School, and today's Guangdong and Jiangxi Provinces are still under its influence. On the basis of the digital elevation data of GDEMV2 at a resolution of 30 M, a square area with a side length of 1,000 m was sampled taking each pagoda as the center by suing Globie Mapper and ArcGIS software for analysis of the spatial characteristics. 2.1 Site selection Base on visual recognition on the literature and Google Earth, the site layout of the geomantic pagodas in Guangdong and Jiangxi tegions could be generally divided according to two sets of standards, the location of the pagodas and the landscape environment of the locations. According to location, the pagodas could be divided into two classes, one in dty or village (including 21 pagodas, Baoguang Pagoda, Dengyun Pagoda, Lianhua Pagoda, Pazhou Pagoda, Qingyun Pagoda, Sanyuan Qixiu Pagoda, Shuangfeng Pagoda, Wenming Pagoda, Wen Pagoda, Peifeng Pagoda, Sixi Temple Pagoda, Shaoguan Wenfeng Pagoda, Wenguang Pagoda, Shuikou Pagoda, Longzhu Pagoda, Yangshan Pagoda, Suojiang Pagoda, Dongshan Pagoda, Chengtou Wenchang Pagoda, Yifeng Chongwen Pagoda and Wuwei Temple Pagoda) and the other inwild countryside of the natural environment (including 8 pagodas, T. ing teng Pagoda, Meizhou Wenfeng Pagoda, Yuankui Pagoda, Yan Pagoda, Zhenfeng Pagoda, Ji'an Chongwen Pagoda, Feiying Pagoda and Wankui Pagoda). According to the landscape environment of the locations, 4 pagodas were built in mountains (lianhua Pagoda, Tingfeng Pagoda, Yan Pagoda and Zhenfeng Pagoda) and 16 pagodas were constructed near the mouth of the rivers (Baoguang Pagoda, Pazhou Pagoda, Qingyun Pagoda, Wenming Pagoda, Wen Pagoda, Yuankui Pagoda, Shaoguan Wenfeng Pagoda, Wenguang Pagoda, Shuikou Pagoda, Longzhu Pagoda, Suojiang Pagoda, Ji'an Chongwen Pagoda, Chengtou Wenchang Pagoda, Yifeng Chongwen Pagoda, Wankui Pagoda and Wuwei Temple Pagoda).
