| Abstract | The objective of this article is to describe the usefulness for clinical practice of the different expressions of the comic. It begins by identifying what Freud calls the “Janus face” ofWitz, in order to be able to distinguish the diverse forms of the comic dealt with in his treatise “Jokes and their Relation to the Unconscious”, and then goes on to enrich thediscussion with the contributions of French philosopher Henri Bergson and Jacques Lacan's insightful reading. Finally, the paper examines how these modalitiesof the comic contribute to the treatment of censure, the relation to desire, the capacity to find pleasure in an unpleasant situation, and analytical interpretation. |
