Abstract In my Editor's Choice for this issue, Eliza Myung Park and her co-authors illustrate the nub of the problem that concerns me with their web-based survey of widowed fathers' perspectives on how parental status may have influenced the end-of-life experiences of mothers with advanced cancer. Amy Hawkins and Kate Tredgett's paper entitled, "Use of high fidelity simulation to improve communication skills in palliative medicine: a qualitative study" evaluates a series of tutorials that were developed using high-fidelity simulation to teach students communication skills.
