Summary:This article creates quantitative categories based on official data of tourist arrivals by country from 2009 to 2011 from the World Tourism Organization, analyzes international tourism flows, identifies the poles of tourism consolidated and points out the emerging destinations. In this sense, the work is divided into four parts from different spatial cuttings. First, searched through the continental divisions of the UNWTO, it points and understands the most dynamic regions of international tourism. Later, as the second crop, it made an analysis on the subcontinent, where the top destinations on this scale are analyzed, revealing several regional issues not identified in a global perspective. As a third step, the work raised the main international tourist destinations, sorting them progressively in important regional destinations: small targets, medium targets, great destinations, super-targets, and hyper-destinations. Finally, the work analyzed new international destinations, classified into stable and unstable according to proposal that takes into consideration political, economic, social, cultural and physical environment of each country.
