Summary: | Nano-reinforcement of [GREEK LUNATE EPSILON SYMBOL]-Caprolactam has been carried out in-situ using ultrasound by particle-size reduction approach of commercial TiO2. The effect of ultrasound power 500 and 750 W has been studied. The resultant nano-reinforced polymer composite (NRPC) has been characterized using thermal analysis (DSC, TGA), SEM and FT-IR. The DSC results show resultant NRPC samples have Tg in the range 120°C and TGA results show good thermal stability up to 300°C. SEM analysis indicates better dispersion of nano-TiO2 (10-50 nm) in the NRPC matrix for ultrasound 750 W (1:2 acetic acid stabilization). FT-IR spectrum analysis shows similarity with PA6 reinforcement. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT] |
