『조선왕조실록』에 나타난 三韓 개념에 대한 고찰

三韓개념은 한반도에서 일어난 문화변동에 따라 변화하였다. 그래서우리나라 고문헌에 등장하는 삼한은 다양한 개념을 갖는다. 고문헌에 등장하는 삼한에 대한 분석은 삼한 개념을 올바르게 이해하기 위해서 필요한 작업이라고 본다. 이 논문은 『조선왕조실록』에 나타난 삼한 개념을조사하고 분석하는 연구이다. 『조선왕조실록』은 500여 년에 걸쳐 순차적으로 만들어진 사료로서 삼한 개념의 다의성을 고찰하는 데 매우 적절하고 유용한 고문헌이라고 판단한다. 『조선왕조실록』에는 三韓이 345번이나 등장한다. 그중에 삼한이 마한･진한･변한의 국호를 분명하게 가리키는 경우는 단지 1번뿐이고, 삼한이 삼국보다 앞선 실체임을 분명하게 명시하는 경우는 겨우 4번뿐이다. 조선왕조실록에서 삼한이 우리나라라는 뜻을 갖는 경우가 215번이나되고, 다른 나라 사람들이 조선을 삼한이라고 칭한 경우는 30번이나 된다. 또한 삼한을 직위･공신･화폐･서적 명칭으로 사용하는 경우가 60번이나 된다. 그리고 『조선왕조실록』에는 삼한이 가리키는 시대가 불분명한기사가 33번 등장하고, 고려 태조 왕건이 마한･진한･변한의 삼한을 통합하였다는 잘못된 기사도 2번 등장한다. 고문헌 자료에서 최초로 언급되는 한반도 종족들은 마한･진한･변한의삼한이다. 그런데 마한･진한･변한이라는 세 종족이 한반도에서 일어난문화변동에 따라 어떻게 변화하였는가에 대한 논의는 한반도 고대사 이해의 중요한 과제라고 본다. 이 논문에서는 『조선왕조실록』에 등장하는 삼한이 매우 다양한 개념을 갖고 있음을 밝히고 있는데, 『조선왕조실록』 의 삼한 개념이 이처럼 다양한 것은 한반도에서 일어난 문화변동으로 인하여 삼한 개념이 점차 변화하였기 때문이고, 그러한 삼한 개념의 변화가 『조선왕조실록』에 투영되었기 때문이라고 판단한다. The Samhan concept has changed along with the cultural changes that might have taken place in the Korean Peninsula. Accordingly, diverse meanings of Samhan may appear in the historical documents of Korea. Therefore, the meanings of Samhan in the historical documents need to be analyzed carefully in order to understand the Samhan concepts correctly. This study deals with the Samhan concepts that appear in the “Annals of the Joseon Dynasty”. The Annals, recorded for about five hundred consecutive years, may be one of the most highly valuable source of information for studying the diversity of Samhan concepts. In the Annals, the term Samhan appears three-hundred-and-forty-five times: just once as the name of the three countries(Mahan, Jinhan, and Byunhan); four occurrences as the three countries that come just before the three states(Goguryeo, Baekje, and Shilla). In the Annals Samhan is named as our country two-hundred-and-fifteen times, while Samhan is called as Joseon country by foreigners thirty times. Samhan is also used as an official title(name) for position, founding member, money, and book sixty times in the Annals. Furthermore, in the articles of Annals the age of Samhan is unclear for thirty-three times, and is not correct for two occurrences. It has been found in this study that the Samhan concepts are very diverse in the “Annals of the Joseon Dynasty”. KCI Citation Count: 1
