「學記」와 「大學」의 연계성 연구

본 논문은 교육이라는 공통적인 주제를 전면에 내걸고 있는 「대학」과 「학기」의 연계성을 검토하여 송대 성리학 성립 이전의 유가 교육론을 정립할 수 있는 하나의 단초로 삼고자한다. 「대학」과 「학기」가 공히 속해있는 『예기』는 성립단계부터 순자와 그의 후학들의 사상적 관심을 반영하고 있다. 또한 한대 유학이라는 시대배경 아래에서 두 문헌은 전국시대까지 중원을 풍미했던 다양한 사상적 조류들을 종합하여 유학의 일신(一新)을 도모하고 있다는 공통분모를 갖는다. 「학기」와 「대학」의 관계에 주목한 것은 송대에 들어서였다. 상반된 평가가 존재했지만 「학기」와 「대학」은 근본[本]이라는 개념을 중심으로 표리(表裏)관계를 이루는 문헌이라고 보는 것이 타당하다. 또한 두 문헌은 대학지도(大學之道)라는 공통의 용어를 사용하여 교육의 목표를 제시하고 있다. 이 둘 모두 두 문헌의 밀접한 관계를 예증해줄 수 있는 요소이다. 「학기」와 「대학」의 공통분모와 문헌 내적 관계에 대한 고찰을 바탕으로 기존 해석에 새로운 관점을 제기할 수 있다. 「학기」에서 강조하고 있는 ‘근본에 힘쓰는[務本]’ 교육은 「대학」의 수신을 가리키고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 「대학」의 삼강령 중 지어지선(止於至善)에 대해 ‘지선’은 이상사회를 가리키는 것으로, ‘지’는 그 이상사회를 목표로 하는 것을 의미할 수 있다. The objective of this study is to explore a correlation between Daxue(「大學」) and Xueji(「學記」) both of which focus on educational theme. The result of this study will empower Confucian educational theory before Song dynasty to be positioned. Liji(『禮記』) where Daxue and Xueji are contained together reflects Xunji and his School’s thoghtfulness from its establishment stage. In addition, under Han(漢) dynasty, the two texts have common ground that both put together various ideological currents up to warrior state period[戰國時代], willing to renew contemporary Confucianism. In Song dynasty, Some Scholars focused on the correlation of the two texts although there were conflicting assessments about that problem, It make sense to say that the two texts are deeply connected with centered on the concept of fundamental. Also, the two texts use a common term of ‘way of Daxue[大學之道]’ to set educational goals. Both of these are illustrative of the close relationship between the two texts. on the basis of previous discussions, It is possible to bring up a new perspective on an existing interpretations. ‘The fundamental training[務本]’ which is emphasized in the Xueji can be seen as pointing to Cultivating of oneself of Daxue. In addition, about the passage ‘止於至善’, ‘至善’ may mean ideal society. ‘止’ may refer to targeting the society. KCI Citation Count: 0
