Summary:In Korea, there are various classification systems in use, such as the national science and technology standard classification system, the classi- fication system based on educational organization units, and the Korean standard education classification by the National Statistical Office. However, these classifications are based on different fundamental struc- tures, making it difficult to use them in a uniform manner. Furthermore, they are not suitable for statistical calculations or evaluations, resulting in mixed classifications depending on the purpose of use. Therefore, this study aims to identify issues related to academic standard classi- fication by analyzing the current state of academic standard classification, standard classification system issues in academic societies and research institutes, and the existing research issues. The study proposes improve- ment measures for the revision process of the academic standard classi- fication system. As a result of the analysis, the study indicates that maintaining and strengthening the linkage between relevant departmental classification systems and enhancing the linkage with relevant classi- fication systems are necessary to maintain and strengthen the coherence of academic classification systems. In addition, a systematic improvement cycle and management system settings for the revision process are required. KCI Citation Count: 0
