Abstract Climate change has effects that manifest via changes in temperature, rainfall pattern, and its predictability. These changes have deleterious effects on farmers via yield reduction. To this end, several approaches have been employed to overcome problems with climate change. Adoption of climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is one of the most resilient solutions. It is among the most promising solutions to climate change problems. This study evaluates the factors that influence farmers’ adoption of CSA and the consequent impact of adoption on farm production. The multinomial logit model and the Heckman two-step model were used to identify CSA adoption determinants and to evaluate CSA adoption effect on yield, respectively, using 150 farms. Access to extension service, cooperative membership, and land size per family member are the major drivers of CSA adoption. Land size and credit facility source are the major factors affecting farm crop yield. The inverse mills ratio while positive, was not statistically significant, but suggests that adoption of CSA by farmers did not influence farm output. KCI Citation Count: 0
