Summary: | Abstract:The patient was a 90-year-old man, who was admitted to our hospital with complaint of dysphagia. The results of gastrointestinal fiberscopy revealed malignant obstruction in lower part of esophagus. To improve quality of life, Wall stent was inserted. By insertion of Wall stent in a patient of 90 years old with malignant esophageal obstruction, satisfactory improvement in quality of life was achieved. 「INTRODUCTION」In recent years, expandable metallic stent(EMS) has been widely used for the cases of malignant esophageal stenosis. In the present study, we used Wallstent for a 90-year-old patient with malignant esophageal obstruction, and satisfactory clinical outcome was seen. 「CASE」The patient was a 90-year-old man, and he had suffered from dysphagia after each meal from February, 1997. After visiting a local physician, the patient was referred to our hospital. The data at the admission were:physical height 156cm;body weight 44kg;blood pressure 130/62;pulse rate 72/min.;consciousness lucid;anemia in palpebral conjunctiva;no sign of jaundice;no tumor on cervical region;rale heard in lung field;no cardiac murmur heard;no tenderness and no tumor in abdominal region;no edema in lower limbs;no abnormal sign in the results of blood and biochemical tests;and no tumor marker. |
