Summary: | This chapter presents an interview with Immanuel Wallerstein and Carlos Antonio Aguirre Rojas. The interview deals with the world-systems analysis, the history and future of the capitalist world-system, the historical role of the Russian Revolution and the subject of the total reorganization of the social sciences. If one wants to identify Immanuel Wallerstein with the perspective of world-systems analysis, then there was truly a moment in which this perspective still did not exist. He was confident that world-systems analysis will no longer be seen as a separate thing, like something different from these same historical social sciences. In theory, the world-systems perspective was the very reason for which the PEWS section or program was created. The group was created in 1977, with the idea of following or carrying on the perspective of world-systems analysis. The new sciences of complexity might begin to use a language that approximates and is very similar to that of the social sciences. |
