Summary:This paper presents the development and the performance of the chirp pulse generator and processor for Pi-SAR-L2, which was upgraded from that of Pi-SAR-L (a predecessor, 1 st generation of L-band Airborne SAR). This chirp pulse generator and processor can generate the more than 85 MHz bandwidth chirp pulse and process the same bandwidth video signal using the offset video method with small phase error. It was confirmed that this component has good total performance, such as linear A/D characteristics, chirp pulse with low phase noise, good pulse compression characteristics, and so on. In addition, it has some additional functions for the verification of ALOS-2, such as switchable up/down chirp.
