Summary:This paper proposes a new approach which enables cognitive radio systems to perform parallel sensing. Thanks to the spatial rejection capabilities of antenna processing and to the a priori knowledge of the cyclostationarity properties of the incumbent Radio Access Technology (RAT), an opportunistic user can perform periodic in-band sensing to detect a potential incumbent system without having to insert quiet periods on its waveform.
