Summary:Trichophytia in cattle has been examined in 130 calves. Trichophyton verrucosum was isolated from altered parts of the skin and infected hairs of the examined calves. The treatment of trichophytia using hexamine-hydrorodanine, contained in the preparation Urotovet ("Zdravlje" - Leskovac, Yugoslavia), spraying a 5 aqueous solution and spreading ointment five times every other day, led to the complete cure of all diseased calves within 7-21-30 days. The spraying of animals has a comparative advantage in the treatment of calves in large agglomerations with free maintenance conditions. Spraying is easily done and enables all altered spots to be treated several times, the area around them, and even the entire skin of the animals. Spraying of the skins of healthy animals, as well as neighboring infected parts and objects in barns with Urotovet, can be a good prophylactic means for trichophytia in cattle.
