Mycoplasmata finding in respiratory organs of cattle at dairy farms

Mycoplasmata were isolated from 82 exudates (44.32%) after examining 185 nasal exudates on four dairy farms. The presence of mycoplasmata in the respiratory organs of cattle is closely related to the category of the animals. Mycoplasmata findings were most abundant in the nasal exudates of the calves (in 50.33% of the cases), then the heifers (in 25.0% of the cases) and the least in that of the cows (15.0%). The age of the animals also plays a significant role in the spread of mycoplasmata in the respiratory organs. Young calves showed mycoplasmata in 65% of the cases, the elder ones (46-90 days) in 50% of the cases, the younger heifers (5-8 months) in 33.33% of the cases and the elder ones (18-24 months) in 20.00% of the cases.
