Addition to standardization of hemagglutination inhibition micro test (micro HI) for Newcastle disease virus (NDV): [ratio of some HI-antibodies titers height and protection degree of poultry infected by various ways]

Estimation of poultry protection from Newcastle disease is based most commonly on the height of HI antibody titer. It is consider that titer of 1:8 (3 log2) is sufficient for vaccinated chickens, to give protection against infection with Newcastle disease (Meuleamus 1988; Knezevic 1988). In these pa...

Summary:Estimation of poultry protection from Newcastle disease is based most commonly on the height of HI antibody titer. It is consider that titer of 1:8 (3 log2) is sufficient for vaccinated chickens, to give protection against infection with Newcastle disease (Meuleamus 1988; Knezevic 1988). In these papers are presented results which compare individual HI antibody titers and level of surviving animals infected with neuropathogen velogen strain of Newcastle disease virus which are administered intramuscular and/or intranasal. It is concluded that estimation of vaccinated poultry protection against Newcastle disease depends from the height of antibody titer, but also from: a. type of admininstered vaccine; b. way of administration; c. timing between vaccination and infection; d. age of poultry; e. epizootiological situation on the field.
