Summary:In an experiment established in the Moscow region in 2004-2008 the influence of green manures (annual lupine and melilot) and lime-containing ameliorants (dolomitic meal and metallurgic dross – MD) on the yield and quality of potato tubers, the productivity of crop rotation and fertility of sod-podzol loamy sand was studied. In the crop rotation green manure crops, potato, oats were cultivated. As a background, complete mineral fertilizer was applied. In the experimental variants dolomitic meal was applied based on 0.5 and 0.75 hydrolytic acidity and MD at the same relative dosages. The best influence on the potato productivity and soil fertility was obtained by applying MD in combination with green manure forecrops. Plowing legumes simultaneously with chalking provided the need of potato for nitrogen, phosphor, calcium and magnesium practically completely, potassium – by 2/3. The best green manure crop (from the estimated profitability) was melilot. No dangerous accumulation of heavy metals in tubers when using MD was found. The scab prevalence of tubers did not exceed the allowable limits. The cost of the products was 1.30 and 1.58 rub/kg for Zhukovskij rannij and Malinovka, respectively
