Summary:Since 1974 at the Crimean Experiment Breeding Station research work has been carried out for creating healthy vegetable pea seed material in primary seed production. Inspection of seed producing sowings of highest reproduction has been conducted on general area of over 540 ha. Species composition of root rots in the region was found out. Of the pathogens g. Fusarium the following species were discovered: F. oxysporum (Schlecht), F. solani (Mart), F. avenaceum (Fr.) Sacc., F. culmorum (W. G. Sm.) Sacc., F. sporotrichiella (Wr. emend Bilai) and some others. Since 1987 in said region Aphanomyces euteiches Drechs. was identified as a root rot pathogen. Loss of yield from the above pathogen combined with Fusarium amounted to 44,9%. A scheme of receiving healthy vegetable pea seed material is given based on eliminating unhealthy progenies at all stages of seed producing work in primary seed production.
