Summary:The behaviour of biologically degradable zwitterionic in the turbulent pipe flow has been investigated. A two component LDA system was used to perform detailed measurements of the turbulent characteristics. Two flow patterns are reported. The first one is related to the maximum drag reduction efficiency, the second one is related to the flow region just over a critical condition when a micelle structure is partly broken up. It was found that the velocity profile of the first flow pattern is rather laminar than turbulent near the wall. The flow just over a critical conditions is characterised by a formation of large scaled eddies
