Summary:The Agha Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) is a well organized project of Agha Khan Foundation aiming to improve the quality of life in the Northern Areas (NAs). The AKRSP has developed a strategic package for effective utilization of human, financial and material resources for the betterment of the Northern Areas, particularly in livestock and social sector development. This paper identifies and analyses livestock management programmes organized by AKRSP at selected areas in NAs. The article will also discuss the share of village women organizations in the rural and livestock development.
