Abstract Wild potato plants with mosaic and yellow sopts symptoms were detected ar the Zoquiapan National Park (Rio Frio-Nacamilpa) and at the east and west slopes of the "Nevado de Toluca", PVX was detected in wild potatoes growing within the cultivated ones (Rosita and Montsama), which had high percentages of PVX (97 and 98) at Santa Isabel Tlaxcala. The same virus was not detected in disease habitats where cultived potatoes were not found. PVX was only detected in wild potatoes growing within commercial potatoes in Zoquiapan National Park and at the west side of the "Nevado de Toluca". PVX was not detected in isolated natural habitats, far from the cultivated potatoes. Apparently the virus is transmited from the cultivated to the wild potato species, used as reservoirs.
