Summary:The main objectives in this study were: l.-To demonstrate the resistanse to pink bollworm (P. gossypiella) in transgenic cotton varieties with the Bollgard gene in their genome and 2.-to compare diferences in fiber quality of transgenic varieties with their recurrent parents. To evaluate the level of resistance, recurrent parents of each transgenic variety (varieties without the Boligard gene) were included in this trail. Results from this study indicated that there were significant differences in the level of resistance among the transgenic varieties tested, being NUCOTN 33 B and NUCOTN 35 B the most outstanding. lt was also observed that fineness was the charasteristic more afected by pink bollworm.
