Summary:In the present survey, mercury and methylmercury residues in Mullus barbatus have been determined in order to evaluate the risk for human resulting from the consumption of these fish. Mercury, whose mean values vary between 0.40-0.46 mg/kg w.w., is mainly in the methylated form with percentages between 60-100%. The data obtained do not pose a risk for the consumers because the esteem of the weekly intake calculated is not beyond the limits imposed by the WHO [In questa indagine sono stati determinati i residui di mercurio e di metilmercurio in Mullus barbatus, allo scopo di valutare il rischio per l'uomo derivante dal consumo di questi pesci.
