Summary:Acanthiophilus helianthi Rossi is the main safflower pest in Iran, That by feeding directly from seeds and from bottom and by preventing from the conduction of nutrients to grain induced decrease of yield amount. Since having exact information about pest biology and ecology is required for pest control in other hand pesticides application reduces natural enemies and increases environmental contamination. Therefore in this research, the effect of planting dates on the infection of safflower heads and damage rates of Acanthiophilus helianthi in spring and autumn cultivations was investigated. Therefore we can conclude that the main crop factors increased positively at autumn compared to spring cultivation. But despite of higher damage, safflower yield increased. Therefore autumn cultivation was recommended and the main pest is not a limiting factor for autumn cultivation.
