Summary:The experiment was conducted in the greenhouse of the Bogor Research Institute for Food Crops, from January to June 1992. A total of 108 varieties/lines were tested without replication and fertilizer with row spacing of 15 cm x 25 cm. One line showed highly resistant, four resistant, 25 intermediate resistant, and 78 lines showed susceptible reaction low pH. Rice lines ARC 7001 (Reg. 19226) showed highly resistant, whereas IR2071-887 (Reg. 19169), IR2735-F3B-25-12 (Reg. 19172), B995d-Si-89-1 (Reg. 19212), and B117d-Si-77-2 (Reg. 19213) showed resistant reaction with good vigor. Resistant lines were taller than non-resistant lines. Lines with long roots did not always show their tolerance to acid soils Penelitian dilakukan di rumah kaca, Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pangan Bogor, mulai Januari sampai dengan Juni 1992. Banyak varietas/galur yang diuji adalah 108, masing-masing 15 rumpun/baris dengan jarak tanam 25 cm x 15 cm, tanpa ulangan, dan pemupukan. Dari hasil penelitian terdapat satu galur yang sangat tahan, empat galur tahan, 25 bereaksi sedang, dan 78 galur rentan terhadap tanah masam. Galur ARC 7001 (Reg. 19226) menunjukkan reaksi sangat tahan, sedangkan IR2071-887 (Reg. 19169), IR2735-F3B-35-12 (Reg. 19172), B995d-Si-89-1 (Reg. 19212), dan B117d-Si-77-2 (Reg. 19213) menunjukkan reaksi tahan dengan penampilan baik. Terdapat korelasi yang sangat nyata antara tinggi tanaman dengan ketahanan, tetapi tidak terdapat korelasi antara panjang akar dengan ketahanan terhadap pH rendah. Galur-galur tahan lebih tinggi daripada yang tidak tahan. Galur dengan akar yang panjang tidak selalu menunjukkan toleransi terhadap tanah masam
