Summary:The survey was carried out in Februari-March 1973, has a close relation to the development of lemuru (oil sardine) as well as live bait and skipjack fisheries. A total number of 41 stations were investigated, which consist of 11 stations in Bali Strait, 12 stations in the south of Java and 18 stations in the west of Sumatra waters. As a results, the data of plankton condition in connection with the condition of fisheries in the respective areas, could be obtained. The number of plankton organism were calculated by the formule of E = C.A/f.a.n (King and Demond). The conclusions derived from this survey were temporary, and it is advisable to be continued in the next occasion.
