Abstract In planting season of 1994, an experiment to measure NH3 volatility or loss of some sorts of N fertilizers applied on sugarcane was carried out at greenhouse in Pasuruan. The N fertilizers tested were prill urea (N-UP), tablet urea (N-UB), ammonium sulphate (N-ZA), and formaldehide urea (UFD). The experiment was set on a complete randomized design with 3 replications. There were 17 combination treatments of fertilizer and dosages tested, namely (1) 0 kg N as a check, (2) 100 kg N-ZA, (3) 200 kg N-ZA, (4) 300 kg N-ZA, (5) 400 kg N-ZA, (6) 100 kg N-UFD, (7) 200 kg N-UFD, (8) 300 kg N-UFD, (9) 400 kg N-UFD, (10) 100 kg N-UB, (11) 200 kg N-UB, (12) 300 kg N-UB, (13) 400 kg N-UP (14) 100 kg N-UP, (15) 200 kg N-UP, (16) 300 kg N-UP, (17) 400 kg N-UP. The volatility tests was based on the amount of NH3 caught by N3BO3 in a closed room during the study. The result showed that N fertilizer increased width of leaves, number and height of shoots, as well as dry weight of sugarcane. The best dosage of the fertilizers tested was 200 kg/ha. In addition, the greatest N-volatilisation rate during the incubation time (8 weeks) was N-UP (6.7 percent), followed by N-UB (4.9 percent), N-ZA (1.1 percent), N-UFD (0.9 percent), respectively Suatu percobaan pengukuran volatilisasi NH3 untuk melihat pengaruh beberapa jenis pupuk N pada tanaman tebu dan yang diaplikasikan pada tebu, telah dilaksanakan pada musim tanam 1994 di rumah kaca dan laboratorium Pasuruan. Tujuan percobaan untuk mengetahui jumlah kehilangan N dari beberapa pupuk yang diaplikasikan pada tebu serta pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan agronomis tebu. Terdapat 17 kombinasi perlakuan jenis pupuk dan dosis N yang diujikan yaitu: (1) 0 kg N, (2) 100 kg N-ZA, (3) 200 kg N-ZA, (4) 300 kg N-ZA, (5) 400 kg N-ZA, (6) 100 kg N-UFD, (7) 200 kg N-UFD, (8) 300 kg N-UFD, (9) 400 kg N-UFD, (10) 100 N-UB (11) 200 kg U-UB, (12) 300 kg N-UB, (13) 400 kg N-UB (14) 100 kg N-UP, (15) 200 kg N-UP, (16) 300 kg N-UP, dan (17) 400 N-UP tiap hektar. Percobaan disusun dalam rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 ulangan. Uji volatilisasi dilaksanakan berdasarkan jumlah uap NH3 berasal dari pupuk yang ditangkap oleh H3BO3 dalam ruang tertutup selama periode pengamatan. Jumlah NH3 yang terikat H3BO3 dititar dengan HCl menunjukkan jumlah NH3 yang hilang dari pupuk. Percobaan pemupukan N berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan luas daun, jumlah anakan, tinggi dan berat kering tanaman serta serapan N daun. Dosis pemberian N sebanyak 200 kg/ha menunjukkan dosis cukup efisien dimana jenis pupuk UP, UB, UFD dan ZA mampu meningkatkan berat kering tanaman sebesar 12, 21, 30 dan 22 persen dibanding tanpa perlakuan N. Hasil percobaan lain menunjukkan bahwa tingkat volatilisasi N terbesar dari beberapa pupuk N yaitu Urea Prill Urea Briket ZA Ureaformaldehida dengan tingkat kehilangan N selama inkubasi 8 minggu berturut-turut 6,7,; 4,9; 1,1 dan 0,9 persen
