Abstract Laboratory tests were conducted to determine the role of type of carrier for Sumicidin and Dursban baits in acceptability and toxicity to larvae of the greasy cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Hufn.). The results indicate that the type of carrier, bait water cintent and soil moisture are important factors governing the control efficiency of baits. Cornocob pith was more attractive and effective carrier than either wheat bran or peanut shells.
