Summary:An agro-economic evaluation of Dhabdhabey Pat was done through On Farm Trial in comparison with existing modern variety CVL-1. The average yield of Dhabdhabey was found 1987.68 kg/ha compared to 2145.82 kg/ha for CVL-1 under same management level. The price per kg of Dhabdhabey fibre (Tk. 5.44) was found higher than CVL-1 (Tk. 5.12) mainly due to quality advantage. Though the average gross margin per hectare of Dhabdhabey (Tk. 5508.90) was observed slightly lower than CVL-1 (Tk. 6189.52) but the performance of the variety was found more or less at par with CVL-1. Moreover, the characteristics like snow white with soft bottom and less cutting of Dhabdhabey fibre may increase the export demand. On the whole, cultivation of the variety Dhabdhabey under research management was found profitable at farm level.
