Abstract A portable computer with a base (22) containing media, batteries, and keyboard, with a CPU (52) and main PCB (50) lo-pacated in a planar CPU module (28) separate from and behind the flat-panel display module (26), mechanically connected to the display module (26) with a deployment mechanism, and functionally connected to the display module (26) and base (22) by a base flexible circuit (78). The CPU module (28) contains a heat-spreading front cover (46) facing the display module (26), and thermally connected to hot components on the main PCB (50). The translating mechanism operates such that when the display module (26) is closed, the CPU module (28) is adjacent to the display module (26), and when the display module (26) is open, the CPU module (28) is positioned with a gap between it and the display module (26). Ordinateur portatif comprenant une base (22) qui renferme les supports, les batteries et le clavier, tandis que l'UC (52) et la carte principale (50) sont disposées dans un module UC (28) plan, séparé du module d'affichage (26) à écran plat et situé derrière lui. Le module UC est mécaniquement relié au module d'affichage (26) par un mécanisme de déploiement et fonctionnellement connecté audit module (26) et à la base (22) par un circuit flexible (78) de base. Il comporte un couvercle avant (46) dissipateur de chaleur, opposé au module d'affichage (26) et thermiquement connecté aux composants chauds situés sur la plaquette principale (50).
