Abstract A lightwave oven (10) for cooking with light having wavelengths in the visible, near visible, and infra-red range using one or more quartz halogen tungsten lamps or quartz arc bulbs (16a, 16b, 18a, 18b) positioned above and below the food item and delivers light energy in select ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum, by filtering the light, during select portions of the cooking cycle. On décrit un four à ondes lumineuses (10) pouvant cuire des aliments au moyen d'une lumière à longueur d'onde lumineuse dans le spectre visible, quasi visible et infrarouge. Le procédé met en oeuvre une ou plusieurs lampes quartz-halogènes au tungstène ou des ampoules quartz à arc (16a, 16b, 18a, 18b) placées au-dessus et au-dessous du produit alimentaire pour libérer une énergie lumineuse dans des gammes choisies du spectre électromagnétique, par filtrage de la lumière, pendant des tranches déterminées du cycle de cuisson.
