On décrit un four à ondes lumineuses (10) pouvant cuire des aliments au moyen d'une lumière à longueur d'onde lumineuse dans le spectre visible, quasi visible et infrarouge. Le procédé met en oeuvre une ou plusieurs lampes quartz-halogènes au tungstène ou des ampoules quartz à arc (16a, 16b, 18a, 18b) placées au-dessus et au-dessous du produit alimentaire pour libérer une énergie lumineuse dans des gammes choisies du spectre électromagnétique, par filtrage de la lumière, pendant des tranches déterminées du cycle de cuisson.
