A process for making composite wood products using a B-staged, phenolic resole resin-impregnated fiber mat as a glue line. The fiber mats provide gap filling and are useful for bonding high moisture content substrates. The fiber mats also provide for a reduction in the thickness of individual veneer layers and/or the reduction in the number of veneers used in a composite wood product. L'invention concerne un procédé pour fabriquer des produits ligneux composites à l'aide d'un mat fibreux imprégné de résine phénolique de résol à l'état B et servant de joint de colle. Ces mats fibreux constituent des joints épais et sont utiles pour coller des substrats à forte teneur en humidité. Les mats fibreux permettent également de réduire l'épaisseur de couches individuelles de placage et/ou de réduire le nombre de placages utilisés dans un produit ligneux composite.
