Abstract A process for vacuum refining of molten steel by using a refining flux, wherein a fuel gas and an oxygen gas are spouted to the outlet of a top-blown lance of a vacuum refining apparatus to create a burner flame below the top-blown lance, and, in addition, the refining flux is fed into the top-blown lance using an oxygen gas as a carrier gas and further passed through the burner flame, and the heat melted refining flux is allowed to arrive at the surface of the molten steel. In this case, the refining flux feed rate and the circulating flow rate of the molten steel during vacuum refining are regulated so as to have a predetermined relationship, achieving a low unit requirement for the flux throughout one campaign of the vacuum tank. Ce procédé d'affinage sous vide d'acier en fusion, à l'aide d'un flux correspondant, consiste à faire jaillir de l'orifice de sortie d'une lance de dispositif d'affinage, placée au-dessus du bain d'acier, un gaz combustible et un gaz à base d'oxygène, afin de créer une flamme de brûleur sous cette lance, à alimenter le flux d'affinage dans la lance, à l'aide d'un gaz à base d'oxygène en tant que gaz porteur, puis à le faire passer à travers la flamme de brûleur, de manière à ce que ce flux de fusion thermique arrive à la surface de l'acier en fusion. Dans ce cas, on régule la vitesse d'alimentation du flux ainsi que la vitesse d'écoulement de l'acier en fusion, lors de l'affinage sous vide, de manière à obtenir un rapport prédéterminé entre celles-ci, afin de n'avoir qu'une faible demande d'unités de flux pour une campagne de l'enceinte à vide.
