Abstract An efficient process for producing trioxane by bringing an aqueous formaldehyde solution into contact with an acidic catalyst, wherein the conditions are controlled so that the concentrations of methanol and formic acid in the reaction mixture are each 0.5 to 5 wt.% and the methanol concentration (wt.%) does not exceed twice the formic acid concentration (wt.%). This process is reduced in the corrosion of the equipment and formation of by-products. Procédé efficace de production de trioxane consistant à amener une solution aqueuse de formaldehyde en contact avec un catalyseur acide. Les conditions sont régulées de sorte que les concentrations de méthanol et d'acide formique dans le mélange de réaction sont chacune comprises entre 0,5 et 5 % en poids, et la concentration de méthanol (en pourcentage pondéré) n'excède par le double de la concentration d'acide formique (en pourcentage pondéré). Ce procédé réduit la corrosion de l'équipement utilisé ainsi que la formation de sous-produits.
